NAF arrests ex-service man, 5 others over missing riffles

An ex service man, Dubi Elisha, and five others have been arrested by the Nigerian Air Force authorities, who said the suspects were caught napping while in possession of missing rifles.
The Commander, 37 Base Services Group of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Haruna Umar, who paraded the suspects at the Air-Force Base, Yola, recalled that the suspects were arrested by a joint patrol of Air Force personnel and men of the Department of State Security Services, following painstaking investigations.
He disclosed that, two missing rifles belonging to the Air Force, found in possession of the suspects, were allegedly stolen from its personnel by one James Dauda, who was among the suspects.
“One Mr. Dubi Elisha, a business man at Numan, was recently arrested by men of the Nigerian Air Force in a joint operation with personnel of DSS.
“He was found to be in possession of a missing FN Rifle belonging to the Nigerian Air Force, among other weapons.
“Mr. Dubi was identified to be an ex-service man, who was discharged from the Nigerian Army,” he said.
Umar said that the two missing rifles were stolen from its personnel by one James Dauda who was among the suspects arrested.
“After series of interrogation, James Dauda, confessed to stealing the rifles.”
According to his confessional statement, Dauda declared that he truly sold the FN Rifles to Mr. Dubi Elisha, which eventually led to the latter’s arrest.
“His voluntary confessional statement further exposed the involvement of other accomplices. “These individuals have all been arrested. They are Mr. Saul Chamak, Mr. Yaro Philemon, Mr. Martins Bwara and Mr. Tatula Moses,” he said.
Umar added that other incriminating items recovered from the suspects include, “Browning Pistol, a double-barrel gun, 30 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, 30 shot-gun cartridges, three arrows, desert camouflage military uniform and one 7.62 mm live ammunition.”
He re-iterated the commitment of the Air Force to dealing with criminals in the state.
The commander lauded NAF’s collaborative efforts with other security agencies in the state.
