NDIC tasks students on savings

The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation has urged secondary school students in the country to form savings clubs in their respective schools, in order to cultivate the habit of
savings.
A principal manager of NDIC, Mr. Ibrahim Aliyu, gave the task when some secondary school students converged on Government College, Keffi, in Keffi Local Government area of Nasarawa State, to mark the 2017 World Savings Day celebration.
Consequently, the principal manager called on students to open accounts with financial institutions and avoid expensive items and also avoid using all income at their disposal.
“Money saved should be placed in a financial institution for safe-keeping and to earn interest on your money. This reduces the risk of spending, theft, and gives your money the chance to grow,”
he said.
He further charged the students to avoid expensive items and live within their means, even as he disclosed to the students that the best forms of savings “include pension, insurance and capital
markets.”
