Nelly Nelson… Grammy Award on his mind

For 19-year-old talented Nigerian musician, Nelly Nelson, he is prepared for the challenges that could come his way on the journey to being a force in the music industry.

The indigene of Bayelsa State, while speaking with The Point, said his music career ultimately took off last year, when he was signed on to a record company, Orion Music.

He stated, “2016 was a blessing for me, as I was signed on to a record company on July 1. I dropped my first single, ‘She,’ on November 21, and I have been getting good feedback.”

Before joining Orion Music, Nelly Nelson was only making music on his SoundCloud and attending personal shows. Though he has been a friend to his CEO for a while, he insisted that there were no plans to start a record label at the initial stage.

“My CEO started the label because of me, as he saw the amount of works I was putting into music. I almost got signed on to a different label.”

For Nelson, music has been hereditary as his father used to be a DJ. Notwithstanding, he personally developed his talent, regardless of the earliest influence.

He explained, “I started by performing other peoples’ songs and dancing to them. But at some point, while growing up, I decided to create my own music. It felt good and I did not want to stop.”

Describing himself as a melodious rapper, he sees himself winning the Gram- my Award in the next three years and changing the music scene. He disclosed that he would be dropping the video to his new single soon. “That would be followed by more singles and videos. Later in the year, I plan to drop a mini album, EP,” he added.
