The hope of football enthusiasts and supporters in Kwara State to watch their darling club play in the elite football league, Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) once again was dashed at the weekend, as the Afonja warriors lost its promotional ticket to the Gombe United.
The promotional battle saw the northern outfit edging out the resilience Kwara United boys by 2 goals to nothing, in their second to the last game, in an away encounter. However, Kwara United secured a 1 – 1 draw against visiting FC Taraba at the Kwara State stadium complex on Sunday.
With the current development, Gombe FC and Katsina United thus join Remo stars as the NNL sides that have gained promotion to the NPFL ahead of the next season. Information gather by the Point revealed that one more club is expected to be promoted to the NPFL from NNL.
Meanwhile, the Club Chairman Prince Oladimeji has since congratulated the Gombe Fc management over their new status.
