Ogun community laments ex-council boss’ unlawful acquisition of land

The natives of Igbin-Ojo Village, Wasimi, in Ewekoro Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State have accused a former chairman of Ewekoro Local Council Development Area, Mr. Dele Soluade, of alleged unlawful acquisition and trespass on their lands.
The indigenes, who bemoaned Soluade’s alleged encroachment on their lands, further accused the former council boss of threatening the lives of the members of the Opeagbe and Ademola families.
The families, while acknowledging that the state government acquired some portion of their lands to build international cargo airport, noted that Soluade, a native of a neighbouring village, still illegally encroached on other parts of their lands.
They maintained that the former council boss had been parading himself as an agent of the government for his own selfish interest.
Speaking to our correspondent, the Head of the Opeagbe family, Mr Bantale Akinkugbe Opeagbe, said, “Dele Soluade is disguising under Governor Amosun, and as I speak to you, he has criminally acquired about 160, 000 hectares of our lands. And we have gone to the state’s Bureau of Lands at Oke Mosan in Abeokuta and our findings are that those areas Soluade has illegally acquired, claiming they are under government acquisition, are not; they are free from government acquisition.
“Soluade is just using the name of the governor to carry out unlawfully acquisition of our lands for his own selfish interest.
Also speaking, a member of the Ademola family, Elder Kunle Ademola, 78, noted, “On several occasions, Soluade has harassed us by bringing thugs and police to intimate and oppress us. He forcibly collected our lands, demolished homes, farms and other things.
“We want the governor to stop him from taking our lands and return the ones he has taken.”
Soluade could not be reached by our correspondent to comment on the allegations as he did not pick calls made to his phone and did not reply the text messages sent to him as at the time of filing this
report.
