Omisore, PDP stalwarts lack moral right to fault my govt – Aregbesola

Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State has said that neither a former deputy governor of the state, Senator Iyiola Omisore, nor any other chieftain of the major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, has any moral integrity and political justification to fault his administration.
Omisore had described Governor Aregbesola’s government as the most corrupt since Nigeria gained independence and also accused his administration of high indebtedness.
The former lawmaker also alleged that Aregbesola’s administration borrowed a whopping sum of N500billion, maintaining that Osun would not be able to offset the loan in the next 25 years.
But reacting to these allegations on a radio programme monitored by our correspondent in Osogbo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, denied that the state government borrowed such a huge sum, saying no financial institution could grant such a whopping sum to a state like Osun.
He said, “I wonder how such loan will be granted to a state like Osun. We didn’t borrow such gargantuan funds as being alleged. We inherited all loans granted Osun since its creation, and even at that, Osun didn’t owe such mischievous loan as being alleged by the opposition. The voice of the people is the voice of God.  We know what we represent in the psyches of the people of Osun and we know what PDP represents in the psyches of the people of Osun, so, time will judge.
“PDP and its loyalists are gifted not to see good things. We didn’t embark on grandiose projects. PDP’s seven and a half years’ rule in Osun was a complete waste. Aregbesola deserves kudos because he has used unprecedented means to catalyse Osun’s economy.
“PDP can never fool the collective psyches of Osun people. If PDP accuses us of grandiose projects, ask its members what they did while in government for 16 years in Nigeria and 7 and half years in Osun.
“Omisore, the entire PDP stalwarts and loyalists lack the moral integrity or political justification to fault Aregbesola’s government.”
