One year on, artisan still in jail for stealing Osun pupil’s N8,500 phone

Three young artisans have been remanded in Ilesa prison for allegedly stealing a mobile phone belonging to a student of Osogbo Grammar School in Osogbo, Osun State.

The accused persons, a painter, Ademola Olamiposi, 19; a tailor, Abajesude Seun, 19; and a furniture maker, Oluwoye Seun, 20, as well as others at large, were accused by the police of stealing one Itel handset valued at N8,500 and owned by one Ajisafe Afeez.

According to the charge sheet obtained by our correspondent at the Osogbo Magistrate’s Court, where they were arraigned, the accused persons conspired and committed the offence on December 21, 2016, at about 13:30pm.

The youngsters had been docked since last year and had been granted bail by Magistrate Olusola Aluko, but only Ademola and Oluwoye were able to perfect their bail conditions while Abajesude could not meet his and had since been kept in prison.

After spending six months in the custody of the Ilesa prisons, Abajesude, who said he was a tailor, and two others, were brought back to court on Tuesday to continue their trial.
