Ooni cautions youths against hate speeches, get-rich-quick syndrome

The Ooni of Ife, Oba  Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has cautioned Nigerian youths to desist from hate speeches.
Oba Ogunwusi said that such hate speeches were affecting the nation negatively.
Also, the monarch asked the youths to come together and chart a new course that would engender the panacea for the socio-political challenges confronting the country, instead of blaming government always.
Ogunwusi gave the charge on Monday while declaring open the 2017  Youths Empowerment Summit (YES2017) organised by a non-governmental organisation, Young Entrepreneurship of Nigeria, in collaboration with the Ooni of Ife, to empower 8,000 youths.
Ogunwusi described youths as the mirror of the nation,  saying hate speeches and blame games would only endanger the survival and continuity of Nigeria.
He also advised them against the urge to get easy wealth because it had led so many youths to criminal activities.
The monarch implored youths to painstakingly go through Nigerian history to get the requisite inspiration for nationhood,  adding that the nationalists started the struggle from the manacles of British  imperialism at the early stages of their lives.
According  to him,  the survival and growth of Nigeria as a nation-state solely depend on the forthrightness and pro-activeness of the youths.
Ooni said, “I completely support the positive initiative of the youths to empower Nigerian youths,  and make them responsible.
“All the hate speeches and blame games should stop,  it is not good for this country. We need to go back to history and learn from how our forefathers started the struggle for the emancipation in their 20s and 30s.
“I am enjoining the leadership of YES to challenge other youths for positive things,  and build a country of our choice and desire.”
Also speaking, the President of YES, Mr. Chris Kohol, said YES2017 was an annual programme that would bring together Nigerian young entrepreneurs and youths at all stages of business development and empower them.
Kohol said that the Summit tour would hold in the six -political zones of the country with over 30,000 delegates, 1000 exhibitors and 50 speakers.
He said, “It is expected to be the biggest entrepreneurship event to be hosted in Nigeria  and will feature mentorship, conference, summit, business funding, networking opportunities, exhibition, and town hall meetings.”
He added that the tour would hold between September 27 and November 2, 2017 in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Yola, Kaduna, Enugu and Abuja.
