Osun court remands parent for attempted murder of son for money rituals

An Osun Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ilesa has remanded a 42-year-old man, Wale Adesina, for attempting to kill his son, Master Segun Adesina, for money rituals.
Also remanded alongside Adesina is a housewife, Jumoke Ayanlola, 44, for conspiring to murder the boy.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Sulaiman Olokooba, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on June 12, 2017 around 4:30 pm at Aginjo area, Osu via Ilesa.
Olokooba said that the duo conspired among themselves to commit felony to wit attempted murder of the teenager.
According to him, the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 320 (1) and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.
But the accused persons pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of attempted murder and ritual levelled against them by the police.
The accused persons did not have any lawyer to represent them in court.
Meanwhile, the Presiding Judge, Chief Magistrate Joseph Owolawi, refused the accused persons bail and ordered that they be remanded in Ilesa prison custody.
The magistrate expressed displeasure against parents, who would be so callous to eliminate their wards for rituals.
