PDP chieftain cautions N’Delta leaders over dialogue with FG

  • Warns them against betraying ex-President Jonathan

Former acting deputy chairman (South West) of the Peoples Democratic Party, Engr. Adedeji Doherty, has cautioned Niger Delta leaders over their meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari as part of the efforts to bring the violence in the troubled region to an end.
Doherty, in an exclusive chat with our correspondent, said that the proposed dialogue between the Federal Government and the Niger Delta leaders over the crisis in the region was not wholesome.
Leaders of the Niger Delta recently met with President Buhari on the need to urgently end the ongoing crisis in the region.
The stakeholders from the region were led by Chief Edwin Clark, who is one of the leaders chosen by some militant groups, to kick start the dialogue process with the Federal Government.

The country is not supposed to be governable for Buhari based on his past antecedents. Bring in Atiku tomorrow, Dollar will go back to N200 and things will be normalized in the country

Others at the meeting were Vice- President Yemi Osinbajo, some governors, ministers, traditional rulers, civil rights activists, community leaders and other political appointees from the Niger Delta.
The Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim, and the Director General of the Department of State Services, Lawal Daura, were among the service chiefs present at the meeting.
But Doherty warned the Niger Delta leaders to be cautious with the proposed dialogue with the Federal Government in order not to have any cause to regret their action later.
According to the PDP chieftain, “The problem with the Niger Delta is not what could be solved, except Buhari leaves office. As you can see, they turned down his offers. As it is, there is nothing he is going to give them that they will accept because they have understood that accepting whatever he gives them is an indirect trading of their son, who is former president Goodluck Jonathan. The only thing that stopped Buhari from jailing Goodluck Jonathan is the fear of the Avengers. If the Niger Delta people compromise and take whatever Buhari gives them, he will definitely pick up Jonathan.”
He also argued that Buhari’s past antecedents were responsible for the current hardship in the country.
“Two things that your president said that led to this issue are, one, Baboons and monkeys will be soaked in blood. Two, he said in 2011 that he would make the country ungovernable for Jonathan if he didn’t will the election. And we all saw what happened. And because of this, Jonathan, too, did not have any good time in office. The question that people need to ask is why is it that when it is Buhari’s time now everything is calming down and Boko Haram is no more striking? The country is not supposed to be governable for Buhari based on his past antecedents. Bring in Atiku tomorrow, Dollar will go back to N200 and things will be normalized in the country,” Doherty said.
