Policemen attached to the Ota Division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 60-year-old landlord, Mayegun Alani, for allegedly defiling a six-year-old daughter of his tenant in Sango, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.
The offence was allegedly committed last Thursday by Mayegun in his house, located at Number 3, Mayegun Street, Sango, where the parents of the victim also lived as tenants.
The mother of the little girl was said to have reported the matter to the police after she observed that her daughter was always in pains, with “some unusual signs”, whenever she was taking her birth.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, the six-year-old girl, under interrogation by her mother, allegedly pointed at the landlord as being responsible for defiling her.
Adejobi, a superintendent of police, said that the suspect was immediately arrested by the police but he initially denied the allegation.
The PPRO added that the suspect later confessed to the crime and disclosed that he had been having carnal knowledge of the girl for at least a month.
The police spokesman also said that medical reports confirmed that the girl had been defiled.
“AIG Abdulmajid Ali has directed that the case be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence of the command, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for thorough investigation and prosecution. He frowned at the case and condemned such act in totality,” Adejobi said.
