The police in Ogun have arrested four members of an armed robbery syndicate terrorising commuters at the Sagamu Interchange axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The four suspects, Sulaimon Fatai, 21; Ayobami Alao, 21; Yusuf Sodiq, 20, and Emmanuel Adeleke, 18, were nabbed by the police during a robbery operation on commuters last Saturday at the axis.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Sagamu, Superintendent Moses Aduroja, received a distress call and led his anti-robbery team to the scene, where the four suspects were robbing their victims and got them arrested.
Oyeyemi said that the suspects from whom exhibits such as cutlasses, iron rod, knives and other dangerous weapons were recovered, confessed that they came from Oshodi area of Lagos to rob at the Sagamu Interchange.
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad for discrete investigation and possible prosecution.
