Police arrest man, 35 over teenager’s murder

The police in Ogun have arrested a member of a ritual syndicate, Bakare Olalekan, 35,  for allegedly killing one Olayinka Adebayo in the Ijebu area of the state.
It was gathered that Olalekan  had sold two human hearts to one of the four suspects, who were arrested and prosecuted by the police over the death of the 16- year -old girl, at the rate of N10,000.
While parading  Olalekan and the 53 other suspects at the Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Illiyasu, disclosed that the suspect was nabbed by the operatives of the Anti-kidnapping / Cultism unit, who had been on his trail.
He said, ” Based on the information received concerning the unlawful killing of one Olayinka Adebayo, 16, in the Ijebu area of Ogun State, in which four members of the syndicate were arrested and prosecuted and one at large, a team of Anti kidnapping / Cultism unit launched a manhunt for the suspect. He was arrested and he confessed to have supplied two human hearts to one of the suspects now being remanded.”.
But  the suspect, an indigene of Ijebu,  denied the allegation, saying that he was not a ritual killer .
He said one of his friend asked him to get him  two human hearts, which he later bought at the rate of #10,000 from a friend he identified as Oye .
“One of my friends called me that he needed human parts; I told him that is a big problem and I went to one of my friends house and I told him I needed human parts and he said which part and I told him the heart,” he said.
The suspect, however, added that he also was interested in using the part of the human hearts for the same medicine his friend had asked him to procure them for .
“I bought the human hearts from a friend, Oye, at the cost of N10,000 because I also want to use it for medicine. I was arrested when another friend of mine, Sunday, was caught while trying to prepare his own medicine with the heart.” he added.
The police have  also arrested one Monsuru Adewale over the death of a yet to be identified man, who was killed during a masquerade festival in the Kugba area of Abeokuta.
It was learnt that the suspect fled for his life when he discovered that  the unidentified  victim was shot dead while others sustained various degree of injuries.
The suspect  later resurfaced and organised another masquerade festival at Keesi area of Abeokuta, where four other persons sustained gunshot injuries.
He was arrested, when a team from the Federal Special Anti- Robbery Squad swung into action and appended  him.The police, however, assured that efforts were still on going to arrest his accomplice
