Police arrest suspected kidnapper over victim’s death

Police in Ogun have arrested one Femi Ogunbote for allegedly abducting and killing one Femi Olatunji in Igbokada, Ondo State.
The suspect and members of his armed robbery gang were said to have  robbed and kidnapped Olatunji and took him to Igbokada Riverside area of Ondo State.
Parading the suspect and 36 others at the command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Illiyasu, said that the suspect confessed to committing  the  crime .
illiyasu disclosed that the suspect killed and dumped the body of the victim at the back of Holy Trinity African Primary School at Igbokoda in Ondo State.
He said that the suspect was nabbed, when a team of Federal Special Anti-Robbery squad upon receiving the information, stormed the hideout of the suspected robbers and engaged them in a gun duel for over two hours, which later resulted in the arrest  of the suspect at the Igbokada area of Ondo State.
He said, ” Information received about some armed robbers/ kidnappers/ murders,  who robbed and abducted one Femi Olatunji on 12/12/2017 and took him to Igbokada Riverside area of Ondo State. On 19/05/2017  at about O100hrs, a team of FSARS was detailed for the operation, where their hide out at Igbokada area was burst and they engaged in a gun duel for about two hours before the robbers took to their heels.”
The police boss added that a Nissan Pathfinder jeep belonging to the deceased with registration number EPE 603 AT was recovered from the criminals.
He said efforts were ongoing to arrest the other fleeing members of the gang.
Other exhibits recovered  from the suspects included one pump action gun, one cut-to-size locally made double barrel pistol, seven live cartridges and one Gionee handset.
