Police arrest two ex-convicts for robbing bike operator in Ogun

The police in Ogun have arrested two ex-convicts specialising in snatching motorcycles at gun point in Owode-Egba, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.
The two suspects, Moses Ojelade and Wasiu Lambo, were arrested along Ofada-Mowe road when they allegedly stopped one David Sunday, a motorcyclist and pretended to be genuine passengers.
The suspects were alleged to have later sprayed dry pepper powder on their victim’s face before dispossessing him of his motorcycle.
The victim raised the alarm and policemen attached to the Owode-Egba Division on routine patrol led by their Divisional Police Officer, CSP Sheu Alao, raced to the scene and arrested one of the suspects Moses Ojelade.
The suspect’s arrest led to the subsequent arrest of his accomplice, Wasiu Lambo.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that investigation revealed that the two suspects were ex-convicts, who were just released from prison.
Oyeyemi, an assistant superintendent of police, said that it was also discovered that the suspects had earlier robbed and killed one Oroke Chukwuma on October 6, 2016, in the Ofada area.
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered that the suspects be transferred to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad for proper investigation.
