Police arrest two suspects over killing of mother, two children in Lagos church

Following the alleged murder of three persons in a church at Temu Village in Ikosi Ejirin Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Lagos police operatives have arrested two people in connection with the crime.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, noted that investigation has commenced into the murder of the three church members.
Although speculations had it that the three persons were killed, Edgal noted that it was two persons.
It was learnt that the incident happened at Temu community around 2.am, yesterday when the assailants scaled the fence of the church and allegedly killed the victims.
The victims’ name were given as Iyabo, (mother), David 4, and Rachael, 8-year-old. They were alleged to have been killed by their neighbours.
It was gathered that the victims, who had been away from the community for two weeks and had only returned on Monday, were killed in the early hours of Tuesday inside the church.
It was further gathered that the victims just moved into the community about three months ago and used their home as a Church.
A resident of the area, Mr. Adeshina Idowu, said the death of the family members took them by surprise.
He said, “The family moved into this community six months ago. We were surprised, when somebody came to call me that Mama David is a dead. When I got to the scene, the assailants had killed the woman and her two children, who were with her in their apartment.
“I don’t know how the assailants got into the community, because we have security guards patrolling the community. How they entered into the victims’ compound without the guard knowing about it is still a mystery to us.”
Another resident, who simply gave his name as Tajudeen, said,  “Immediately the incident happened, we informed Agbowa Police Division.
“What troubles the community is that the family just returned to the village on Monday and they were killed before Tuesday morning. Initially, we thought it was armed robbery. But when we entered into their apartment and saw stones used by the assailants, that was why we concluded that it was murder.”
According Lagos police boss, “It is a clear case of murder. The landlady has been arrested and the okada rider has been arrested. One of the victim’s watched television throughout the night with one of the suspects in our custody. It has nothing to do with ritual killing as speculated.”
Policemen from Agbowa Police Division were said to have evacuated their bodies and deposited them at a mortuary.
