Police dock sales woman over theft of employer’s wares

A 30-year-old sales woman, Faseyi Olateju, has been arraigned before a Magistrate’s court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, for allegedly stealing some wares belonging to her employer.
Olateju was said to have stolen the company’s antiseptic products valued at N785,297.
Addressing the court on Wednesday, police prosecutor, Sunday Ajayi, argued that Olateju committed the offence some time in 2015 at Omobolanle filling  station area, Osogbo, the state capital.
According to him, the accused person stole Dettol soaps, dettol liquid, Harpic and Jilk, all valued at N785,297.
He said the stolen goods belonged to A B J Fountain General Services.
Ajayi also stated that the accused, at the aforementioned time and place, obtained the goods under the pretence of selling and remitting the proceeds to the company, which turned out  to be false.
He argued that the offences committed by the sales woman contravened Section 318 and punishable under Sections 419,390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Volume II Laws of Osun State Nigeria 2003.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the offences preferred against her.
Counsel to Olateju, Najite Okobe, applied for the bail of his client in the most liberal terms.
Magistrate Fatimah Sodamade  granted the accused  person bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case till November 1, for hearing.
