Police drag man to court in Osun for beating younger sister to coma

A 27-year-old man, Adewale Oluwaseun, was on Tuesday arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo, for allegedly beating his younger sister to coma.
Oluwaseun, said to be an unemployed graduate of the Osun State College of Technology, Ilesha, Osun State, was also accused of threatening to kill her sibling, Sukurat Akeem.
The Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Sunday Ajayi, told the court that the accused person committed the offence on the October 10, 2017 at 2, Iludun Area, Osogbo.
Ajayi further explained to the court that the accused person battered his younger sister and hit her several times until she became unconscious.
The prosecutor argued that the victim had sustained severe injuries on her head and backside before she was rushed to a hospital.
It was gathered that Sukurat was still receiving treatment at the hospital as at the time the accused was arraigned on Tuesday afternoon.
Ajayi argued that the offences  contravened Sections 86(1),355 of the Criminal Code Cap 32, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge bearing on assault and threat to life.
His Counsel, Mrs. Raji Abiodun, urged the court to admit him to bail in the most liberal terms.
While delivering his verdict, Magistrate Ashiru Ayeni granted Oluwaseun the bail of N50,000 with two sureties in the same amount.
The case was adjourned till November 21, for hearing.
