Police inspector attacked by Boko Haram dies

Inspector Idris Musa, attacked by Boko Haram insurgents on Sunday, has died.
He finally gave up the ghost on Tuesday from injuries he sustained when he, along with two other police officers, came under attack of remnants of Boko Haram insurgents who were moving to attack public centres, places of worship and other locations in the Kano metropolis in the early hours of Sunday, July 23, 2017.
The Boko Haram insurgents attacked the Special Police Team with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and firearms, reports said.
The Team had repelled the attack and in the process, three insurgents sustained serious bullet wounds and three police officers were equally wounded. The Special Police Team successfully prevented the Boko Haram insurgents from carrying out their planned attacks on selected targets in Kano metropolis on the fateful date.
Checks revealed that the late Inspector of Police was a member of the Joint Police Special Team set up by the Inspector General of Police to trail, arrest and prevent the remnants of Boko Haram insurgents from regrouping to attack innocent Nigerians in Kano and other northern states.

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim K. Idris, has consequently commiserated with family of the late Inspector Idris Musa, extolled and appreciated his act of bravery, gallantry and supreme sacrifice of losing his life in active service to his fatherland, Nigeria and the Nigeria Police Force.
