Police nab spiritualist for sexually exploiting woman seeking cure for poverty

The police in Lagos have arrested a self-acclaimed spiritualist, Lukman Olanrewaju, for allegedly deceiving a woman, Adeniran Mutiat Jumoke, into having a three-day marathon sex with him in the Ikotun area of Lagos.

It was gathered that the young woman had approached the 35-year old spiritualist to help her to get out of abject poverty. The Oyo-state born Olanrewaju was, however, said to have prescribed a three-day marathon sex deliverance and payment of the sum of N208, 000 to enable him to effectively address and end Jumoke’s abject poverty.

The sum was said to be for the purchase of some spiritual materials needed for the prayers. He also allegedly told her that she would also need to embark on spiritual deliverance, which would involve doing some extraordinary things.

The suspect was said to have then informed her that he would Police nab spiritualist for sexually exploiting woman seeking cure for poverty engage her in sex for three days and thereafter perform other rituals, after which she would become rich at a certain period.

She gave him the money and did other things he requested, including having sex with the spiritualist for the prescribed period of three days. But a few days after the conclusion of the rituals, her financial condition did not change and she became apprehensive.

When she went back to complain to the spiritualist, she could not find Olanrewaju at the Abaranje house where the rituals were performed and it then dawned on her that she had been duped. Jumoke then went to the Idimu Police Division to report the scam.

Olanrewaju was trailed and later arrested. During interrogation, the selfacclaimed spiritualist confessed that he only deceived her as he had no such powers to cure poverty. Olanrewaju was later charged with conspiracy, sexual assault and stealing. He was arraigned before a magistrate’s court sitting in Ejigbo.

The Presiding Magistrate, A.A. Fashola, granted Olanrewaju bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody, pending when he would perfect his bail. The matter was adjourned till December 5, 2016
