Police rescue kidnapped Indian national

The police in Lagos State have rescued an Indian construction worker from suspected kidnappers in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, confirmed this on Thursday at the state Command Headquarters, Ikeja, during a press briefing.
Owoseni said the Indian was working at a construction site when the incident occurred.
According to state police boss, the suspected kidnappers were leading the victim away to their boat in the creeks when a team of policemen engaged them in an exchange of fire.
The suspected kidnappers, he said, ran away and left the victim.
“Our men were able to rescue the Indian national before the kidnappers could take him into the creeks. The suspects, however, escaped in their boat,” he said.
Owoseni, however, said five robbery and one kidnap suspects were arrested in the last one week in different parts of the state.
He said four guns, five cars and other items were recovered from them.
Meanwhile, the commissioner of police appealed to the residents of the state to be alert and report any strange movements to the nearest police station.
