Save me from being jailed wrongly, activitst appeals to Buhari, IGP

A child rights activist, Mr. Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to save him from being prosecuted and jailed by the Delta State Government on trumped up charges.
Aghogho, who recently accused the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs and the state government of the alleged abduction of 13 children from the A’ Division Police Station in Warri, raised the alarm that his life had been under threat and the Federal Government should protect him.
In an exclusive chat with our correspondent, the child rights activist alleged that he recently got wind of an alleged plot by the Delta State Government to use the police in the state to arrest him “unlawfully, detain and maliciously prosecute” him with the aim of framing him up and sending him to jail.
Our correspondent gathered that the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Asaba, is currently under investigation by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons for repeated child trafficking due to the petition Aghogho wrote to the NAPTIP director general in June 2016.
The activist said the claim by the police that they were investigating a case of contempt before the court had become a source of worry to him, adding that at no time was he ever on the run as claimed by the force.
He said that if the Delta commissioner of police wanted him, he should officially invite him through his office.
Speaking further on his alleged ordeal, the child rights activist said, “On 27th October 2016, I filed a motion of committal to prison on the Delta Commissioner of Women Affairs, Rev (Mrs.) Omatsola Williams, for abducting and trafficking children from the custody of the Area Commander, Warri to an undisclosed location at Asaba in violation of a court order.
“Delta State Government has influenced the Delta CP to use the state Criminal Investigation Department (State CID) to arrest, detain and maliciously prosecute me in a kangaroo court, with intention of putting me in prison.
“Delta State Police Command, Asaba, has never invited me as regards any petition prior to this time, which means their latest ploy of hunting for me was orchestrated by the Delta State Government and it amounts to an afterthought.”
He said President Buhari and the inspector general of police should be informed of the alleged latest ploy by the Delta State Commissioner of Police to silence him, adding that the appropriate authorities should call the Delta police boss to order.
