Sex scandal rocks church as worker threatens to drag pastor to court

A housewife, Mrs. Brenda Nwaguma, has threatened to drag her boss, one Pastor Kenechukwu of a popular new generation church in Ikeja, Lagos, to court for alleged sexual harassment.
Nwaguma accused her boss, Kenechukwu, a pastor at the church where both of them are employees, of alleged persistent sexual harassment.
The woman, who spoke to our correspondent on the alleged sexual harassment, said Kenechukwu had on many occasions pestered her with demands for sex, adding that she did not give in to his
advances.
She also claimed that because of failure to do her boss’ alleged bidding, he had persistently been “victimising” her in
many ways.
Nwaguma alleged that her salaries in the past nine months had been withheld by the church “for no reason.”
“My boss has been sexually harassing me and because I did not allow him to have his way, he decided to frustrate me; he victimises me, blackmails me and even influenced the decision of higher authorities of the church to hold back my salaries and asked that I shouldn’t come to work,” the mother of three told our correspondent.
In a petition by her lawyers and addressed to the church, she accused Kenechukwu of sexual harassment, victimisation, discrimination, intimidation and blackmail.
The petition, which was signed by her lawyer, Mr. Samuel Akpologun, reads in part, “While our client was asked to stay away from work, our client has not been given any further instruction or information. Furthermore, her salary has been unduly withheld for no just cause for nine months now.
“After reports on our client’s allegations against her boss were made available to the authorities, they promised to look into the matter, having received evidence from her. Since then, the said management has neither got in touch with our client nor paid her
salaries.”
The woman’s lawyers also demanded that Kenechukwu should publicly apologise to Nwaguma, who was allegedly labelled “adulterous”, while also calling on the authorities to restore the victim to her job as well as pay her nine months’ salary arrears.
When contacted, officials of the church declined to speak with our correspondent.
One Pastor Mrs. Omoh Alabi, one of the leaders of the church, told our correspondent, “I am sorry, I can’t speak with you. I don’t know you. Where did you get my contact? I can’t speak with
you.”
She did not also respond to a text message sent to her on the allegation against her and others in the church, as at press time.
