Soldiers kill seven cultists in Imo communities

No fewer than seven suspected members of a cult group, De-well, operating in Awarra community in Ohaji/ Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, have been killed by soldiers guarding oil wells in the area. A source told our correspondent that the suspected cultists had on Sunday night unleashed terror on the community, killing 29-year-old Godson Boniface Ihuru in Umuoluka Umuonei Awarra autonomous community at about 9pm. They were also said to have stabbed a member of the Deeper Life Bible Church in Umuinne Awaara, Mr. Bigi Egbelu, to death when he suddenly ran into them. The source, however, disclosed that Ihuru was a member of the rival D-gbam cult group. He said luck ran out on the rampaging cultists when soldiers on guard at the Shell and Agip oil wells in the area got information on the killings by the member of the cult group and laid an ambush for them. The soldiers were said to have gunned down seven of the suspected cultists, while the other members of the group escaped with severe gunshot injuries.
