Someone may get fired for Korede’s album cover-Don Jazzy

The Mavin Records boss, Michael Collins, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has explained that he may be forced to fire the graphic artist who worked on Korede Bello’s ‘Belloved’ album cover.

Though the Godwin singer is presently the talk of the town following the release of his 11-track album last Saturday, the album’s cover has been criticised for sharing similarities with a art work used by Runtown and rapper CDQ respectively.

Speaking recently on the album, however, Don Jazzy said he enjoyed professionalism and division of labour.

According to him, his work is to produce music while Korede Bello’s work is singing. He stated, “We don’t know anything about designing an album cover; we only make music. For me, I believe in division of labour and giving the job to professionals.

As it has been noted now, I can go back to the office and someone would lose his job “Whenever we shoot a musical video and you feel it’s beyond standard, you should always question the director because we work with what they give us.

For Korede, we have shot two videos that we d i d n ’ t put out because we felt the qualities were poor. We didn’t even mind the money we spent on it. Artistes do not shoot videos themselves, so people should always divert their anger to directors.”

He said he delibrately didn’t produce all the songs on the album so as to give other producers an opportunity. “I have produced over 50 songs for Korede but all cannot be in the album.

We also have Altims, Baby Fresh who are also good producers. People should understand that I can’t be producing all songs again; younger producers must be given opportunities.”

On when Korede’s next album will be dropped, he admitted he had no idea, saying, “it could be four years later or before then.” Korede Bello had insisted that he didn’t feature artistes on the ‘Belloved’ album because he did it for his fans. Before now, the singer has collaborated with some big acts, including Asa, Kelly Rowland, Tiwa Savage, and Don Jazzy. The album is complemented by three bonus songs, ‘Godwin’, ‘Do Like That’ and ‘Romantic.’
