Two killed, nine others injured as Ogun lawmaker’s bus rams into passenger bus

Two persons were reportedly killed on Tuesday, following an auto cash that occurred along the Abeokuta – Siun – Sagamu Expressway in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Nine others also sustained various degrees of injuries in the accident.
The accident involved a Toyota Picnic passenger Space car marked LAGOS KSF 957 BB and a Nissan Serena Space bus marked 25 OGHA.
It was gathered that the driver of the Toyota car had parked to examine the cab’s worn tyre at Onipepeiye Village along the expressway before the bus collided with the Toyota car, killing two persons on the spot.
The bus, believed to be owned by a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, was said to have rammed into the Toyota car loaded with passengers travelling from the Challenge area in Ibadan, Oyo State , when the driver stopped to check the faulty tyre.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission in the state, Adegoke Adetunji, confirmed the occurrence of the auto crash.
Adetunji disclosed that the accident involved only 17 people.
He further said that the accident caught the driver of the car unaware, as he was busy repairing his faulty tyre , resulting in his instant death along with one of his passengers.
According to the FRSC sector commander, all the injured persons were taken to the Federal Medical Center, Abeokuta, for treatment, while the corpses of the two persons killed had been deposited in the mortuary of the same hospital.
The state FRSC boss added that the police had already arrested the driver of the OGHA bus.
The Public Relations Officer of the state’s Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said that the accident occurred as a result of over-speeding on the part of the driver of the OGHA bus, who he also alleged was drunk.
