UNICEF tasks journalists on fair reporting on children

The United Nations Children Fund has urged journalists in Nigeria to make the well-being of children the centre of their reportage on child’s rights abuses, in accordance with best global practices.

UNICEF at a workshop organised for journalists on “Ethical Reporting on Children” in Ibadan, Oyo State, stressed the need to create opportunities for sharing information on ethical reporting on children.

Speaking at the workshop, UNICEF Communication Officer, Blessing Ejiofor, enjoined journalists to always abide by the guidelines and principles of reporting issues affecting children in the media.

Chief Public Affairs Officer of the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Rasaq Musbau, expressed delight that the journalists attending the workshop were specially selected.

Musbau commended the selected journalists for the good work they had been doing through their various media organisations. He tasked them on need to ensure ethical reporting of issues affecting children by familiarising themselves with the ethical guidelines being promoted by the UNICEF workshop.
