Unknown gunmen suspected to be assassins have killed a man identified as Sheikh Yusuf Tanimola, his wife and four children in the Atiba area of Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The reason for the murder of all the members of the family of six could not be ascertained as at press time.
It was learnt that a two-year-old set of twins was among the four children killed by the unknown gunmen.
Consequently, fears have gripped residents of the area as sympathisers thronged Tanimola’s residence to see the lifeless bodies of the six family members.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told our correspondent that the entire family members were killed overnight and that he was yet to get the names of the victims.
Oyeyemi, an assistant superintendent of police, noted that the Divisional Police Officers in Odogbolu and neighbouring towns had mobilised their men alongside operatives of the Federal Special Anti – Robbery Squad and the Homicide Section to visit the residence of the family and unravel the mystery behind the brutal killings.
He also said that the police was also “profiling the identity of the killers ” in order apprehend them.
