We won’t condone killing of innocent Nigerians, DIG warns policemen

The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Southwest Zone, Foluso Adebanjo, has said that any police officer involved in the killing of innocent Nigerians would not go unpunished.
Adebanjo stated this during  an official working visit  to the Ogun State  Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, to familiarise himself with police officers in the state.
He said “If a police officer kill any citizen illegally, you will be arrested,  charged and dismissed. We will not condone the killing of innocent Nigerians.”
Adebanjo, therefore, warned the police officers to be cautious in the use of their fire arms to prevent sudden discharge of bullets, which might mistakenly hit innocent Nigerians.
The DIG, while describing the state as one of the most peaceful state in the South West zone, however, urged the police officers to improve on their operational skills.
The State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, who requested for more police personnel in the state, said that the visit of the DIG would reposition the force in the country.
He said, “The DIG is committed to the progress and achievements of the command. Your  visit is showing the repositioning of the police in the country. We are appealing for manpower and we will put up our request in writing. “
