This is obviously a lesson to all. We should always be careful of what we wish for. I am sure most women would have wished for a union like that of Tonto Dikeh before trouble hit it.
Though I am not a lady, I used to envy Tonto’s marriage to Oladunni Churchill and had quietly wished my unborn daughter would get married to a man like Churchill. After seeing her through education, I would like her to have all the good things of life. I forgot that being wealthy may not necessarily mean having peace of mind.
But you should not blame any man or woman for wishing to have such a man as a son-in-law or husband. With the situation of the economy, it is hard to find a man who lavishes luxurious gifts even on a wife.
After the events of the past few weeks between Tonto and Churchill, every lady who had prayed to God to bless her with such a union must now be reaching out to God to withdraw such prayer point.
As it is now, the situation has gone out of hands for the one-time lovebirds. Both of them granted interviews recently, defending their actions and speaking bitterly about one another.
Tonto had revealed to the public that her husband never got her all the gifts she claimed he got. It means she had been feeding the public with lies all the while. And rather than allow things remain at that level, she equally failed to realise how coming back to eat her words would affect her integrity negatively.
She said on Instagram, while responding to a fan, that “because I posted stuffs, saying my ex-husband bought them for me, doesn’t make them true. I used my platform to lie to make him the man he is today. So, don’t come at me with the bullshit of enjoying this man’s money. I have not started talking, I will bare it all but there is time for everything. I care now for the system because I am no longer naive, I’m a mother, who wants to live long for my child.
“I am not a saint and cheating isn’t the only reason I took the forever walk.
He is many things but not gay. That was a lie from the devil. I was scammed myself. All I did was try to use my platform to bring someone up from where he was. Someone I loved. It is my nature. Unfortunately, I picked the wrong one.”
She also gave a video interview, where she claimed her husband gave her STD and was being assaulted. She let out many unpleasant things about their marriage.
In response to Tonto’s claims, Churchill granted an interview, insisting that it was almost impossible to pacify the actress whenever she was aggressive.
He provided a video evidence to refute claims made by the actress, who alleged that her husband inflicted injuries on her body.
The clip revealed one of the tantrums thrown by Dikeh. Scenes of broken glass and blood-stained floor were captured in the video, which have contrasted the actress’ account of Churchill’s abusive behaviour.
Churchill’s claim also confirmed an earlier statement given by a Ghana Police Service officer, who revealed that Dikeh made a confession about destroying her husband’s belongings.
However, an actress and a friend of Tonto, Ify Okeke, has called on the public to let the couple be. She, perhaps, forgot that they took the matter to the public themselves. But for them, the public couldn’t have known all they know now.
While using her own broken home as a case of study, Okeke went ahead to blame Churchill for not acting mature, saying that he should have looked for a way to make up with his wife.
Tonto and her husband simply did not take lessons from Teebillz and Tiwa Savage’s marriage crisis. In Tiwa and Teebillz’ case, it later became obvious that they both regretted their actions. To date, they are still ashamed of facing the public or media. While Tiwa still manages to carry on with her music silently, Teebillz has shunned many public events. And it took him many months to return to the social media.
Tonto and Churchill have a child together. So, by now, they should have known that certain things are better left unsaid and fighting dirtying in the public will only cause more harm than good.
There is something celebrities need to learn – they need to learn how to walk out of their failed marriages without attracting more problems or damages to themselves.
