Wife drags husband to court for calling her a goat

  • She’s responsible for my ill-health – Hubby

A housewife, Aderonke Ojediran, has asked an Ibadan, Oyo State Grade C Customary Court to dissolve her five-year-old marriage to her husband, Ms. Oyeleke Ojediran, for calling her a goat.

Aderonke told the court that her husband, who had allegedly refused to pay her bride price, had been in the habit of threatening her life and not caring for their only child.

While pleading for the dissolution of her marriage to Ojediran, the housewife told the court’s President, Chief Mukaila Balogun, “I packed out of my husband’s residence in 2013, when I could no longer cope with his bad characters.

“Sometime in 2013, my husband brought goats inside our sitting room and compared me with the animals, saying I am the same as the goats.

“He used to beat me and has been careless about my welfare and that of the innocent child we have. In fact, I am tired of the marriage and I don’t want to die young. To make matters worst, he refused to pay my bride price; instead, he has turned me to a punching bag and treated me as he wished.”

She prayed the court to allow her to take custody of the only child of the marriage for proper care. Her husband admitted before the court that he brought two goats into their sitting room and compared his wife with the animals because of her bad attitude.

Ojediran said he would not oppose her prayers for the dissolution of their marriage, alleging that the plaintiff’s troublesome way of life was responsible for his hypertensive health condition. The court president declared the marriage dissolved.

The court president in his ruling said, “Having listened to the evidence of both parties, it is clear that there is no more love between the couple and they should go their separate ways as they stand unmarried.

Custody of the only child of the union is to remain with the plaintiff. “The sum of N3,000, being money for the upkeep of the child, is hereby awarded against the defendant on monthly basis.”
