Wizkid steals the show at AFRIMA awards

Annual All Africa Musical Awards (AFRIMA) has since inception become of one the most prestigious awards ceremony, especially with its greatly valued plague of honour. Therefore, expectations were on the high side when the fourth edition of the awards, which held days ago in Lagos, was under way. While celebrities and showbiz personalities looked forward to add to the glamour expected to pervade the atmosphere at the event, musical artistes were hopeful about outshining one another at the awards. Meanwhile, attention was on top and wave-making acts to see how they were going to fare.
The classic award ceremony event, which was hosted by America-based Senegalese singer, Akon, and Paris-based Cameroonian, Sophy, eventually held in Lagos, with several artistes winning at different categories. However, one artiste who was able to prove he’s, indeed, talented and particularly showed his supremacy over his peers and his arch rival, was Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid. The youngster became the cynosure of all eyes as he picked three different awards at different categories. Wizkid won the awards for the Artiste of the year, Song of the Year and Best Male Artiste in West Africa. The like of multiple award-winning singer, 2baba; songstress, Tiwa Savage; and Wande Coal, among several other artistes from all over, also won various awards in the different categories.
Meanwhile, as Wizkid swept awards at AFRIMA, his arch rival in the person of Davido, was equally decorated with Best Worldwide Act at MTV’s EMA awards in the United Kingdom. As it is, the various awards won by these singers have sparked the debate about which award is more prestigious of all the awards. While their fans have been engaged in the debate, the singers, too, have been throwing tantrum at each other, via the internet, over the latest development.
