10 leading stockbroking firms brokered deals worth N269 billion in three months

APT Securities and Funds, Meristem Stockbrokers Limited and Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited are three out of 10 stockbroking companies which pulled deals worth about N269billion in the equities market in the first quarter of 2022.

The top 10 equities trading firms led by APT Securities accounted for over 83 percent of the total value done in the Nigerian bourse in the review period.
The top 10 Stockbrokers are responsible for 60.32 percent of the total volume between January and March 2022.

APT Securities and Funds-BRD was ahead of all in terms of volume drive as it accounted for about 22.4 percent of total volume traded in three months.

Breakdown of the performance of the stockbroking firms in the review period showed that APT Securities and Funds sold shares worth N134.91billion, representing 41.65 percent of total value in the period, emerging the top trading stockbroking firm in turnover value.

Meristem Stockbrokers Limited came behind APT Securities and Funds with deals valued at N55.59billion, accounting for 17.27 percent turnover value while Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited accounted for 6.01 percent of turnover value amongst the ten with N19.46billion.

Familiar names like CardinalStone Securities Limited, EFG Hermes Nigeria Limited, Vetiva Capital Management Limited and Rencap Securities (Nig) Limited, recorded over N8 billion in turnover value in the review period. Cardinal Stone Securities Limited, N15.89billion or 4.89 percent; EFG Hermes, N10.87billion or 3.35 percent; Vetiva Capital Management, N9.19billion representing 2.84 percent; and Rencap Securities (Nig) Limited, N8.8billion accounting for 2.72 percent of turnover value.

Other firms on the top 10 turnover value table are CSL Stockbrokers Limited, accounting for 1.69 percent of turnover at N5.49billion; Chapel Hill Denham Securities Limited, N4.67billion or 1.44 percent of turnover value while Morgan Capital Securities Limited amassed N3.67billion, representing 1.13 percent of turnover value.

On the volume side, Morgan Capital Securities Limited sold about 1.13billion shares which accounts for 7.67 percent of total turnover volume followed by Cordros Securities Limited with 1.12billion units of shares, representing 7.6 percent of total volume. Cardinal Stone Securities Limited and Meristem Stockbrokers Limited traded 1.01billion and 676.3 million shares apiece representing 6.9 percent and 4.5 percent of turnover volume respectively.

Other companies on the top 10 turnover volume chart are: EFG Hermes Nigeria Limited, 414.81million or 2.81 percent; Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited, 401.82 million, accounting for 2.73 percent; United Capital Securities Limited, 290.55 million or 1.97 percent; Apel Asset Capital Limited, 274.86 million representing 1.87 percent and Compass Investment and Securities Limited, 270.71 million accounting for 1.84 percent of turnover volume.
