18 home-based Eagles set for Costa Rica friendly

Goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, utility player Dominion Ohaka, and midfielder Afeez Nosiru are among the 18 home-based players chosen by head coach Salisu Yusuf to represent Nigeria against Costa Rica’s A team in an international friendly in San Jose.

On November 9, in the nation’s capital, the Super Eagles will play host to the Senior National Team of Costa Rica in a renowned international friendly.

The three-time African champions have been invited to the Central American country as part of key events to send the Los Ticos to the FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar, according to NFF’s FIFA Match Agent, Jairo Pachon of Eurodata Sport.

Among others, Yusuf selected the U23 team’s first-choice goalkeepers, Nathaniel Nwosu and Bankole, as well as the defenders Daniel Bameyi, Chidiebere Nwobodo, and Evans Ogbonda, midfielders Nosiru and Qudus Akanni, and strikers Sunday Faleye and Edidiong Ezekiel.

On Wednesday, November 9, the game will begin at 8 p.m. Costa Rican time at the National Stadium in San Jose (which is 3 am, 10th November in Nigeria).

The Nigerian squad has been practicing at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan for the past week.
