As the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State marks his second year anniversary, the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Delta Central Senatorial District has begun moves to ensure that the governor continues in office beyond 2019.
A political group under the aegis of PDP Delta Mandate (Delta Central) made this known recently, when members of the party met in Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.
The National President of the PDP Delta Mandate, Chief Isaac Aweifia, said that the group had been on ground since 2013 and had succeeded in 2015 in making Okowa the governor of the state.
Aweifia said that with the 2019 elections around the corner, the political group decided to come out to mobilise and work for the return of Governor Okowa in 2019.
Also speaking, another chieftain of the party, Prof Sam Oyevwaire, said, “When the going was tough, I did not know that this group was there for me. Times were really tough and we did not know who was there for us. We have been on this, but we are up to the task. Governor Okowa knows more than all of us.”
He thanked all the executive members of the group for honouring him and called on the people of the Delta Central zone to continue to support the PDP.
