2019 polls: Avoid bloodshed during campaigns, C&S Movt head cautions politicians

As the campaigns for the 2019 general elections across the country approach, the Spiritual Father/Chairman, Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Worldwide, Most (Revd) Dr. Samuel Abidoye, has urged politicians to avoid spilling the blood of fellow human beings in their quest to occupy public offices.
Abidoye said Nigerian politicians and the electorate should display political and spiritual maturity in conducting their campaigns for elective public offices by being peaceful always.
The cleric stated this in his New Year message to Nigerians.
According to him, with the expected kick-off of the campaigns for the 2019 elections in August, following the release of the guidelines and the schedule of activities for the polls, politicians will, once again, begin to make strenuous efforts to either gain or retain power.
He, however, enjoined them not to be too desperate to resort to shedding the blood of other Nigerians on the altar of partisan politics.
“2018 is another year of engaging in campaigns, politicking and political arithmetic, either to gain power or retain power. Please, let’s be politically and spiritually mature and be careful not to engage in politics of bloodshed,” Abidoye said.
The cleric also enjoined the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to be masses-oriented by taking drastic measures to address the falling standard of education and resuscitating the technical schools in order to produce more employers of labour across the country.
He said, “I beseech the government to be masses-oriented, work more on improving the quality of our education that is going down and help us to raise the standard of technical schools that will in turn produce more employers of labour than job seekers.
“There should be creation of more skill acquisition/training centres across the country. This will help to mop up a portion of the unemployed youths roaming our streets.”
Politicians should be politically and spiritually mature and avoid politics of bloodshed
Abidoye enjoined all Nigerians to continue to pray for the country, adding that they should give the Buhari administration more time to fight corruption and put the country on a path of greatness once again.
“I enjoin you to remain calm, humane, firm, resolute and decisive while the government of the day is given more time to drive home their point on their war against insurgency. Please, let us give them more time and chance to continue to execute their campaign promises and their staunch and persistent fight against corruption,” he said.
Speaking further on what Nigerians should expect in the new year, the cleric said, “I’m enthusiastic to inform you that 2018 is going to be a very fruitful year because as the months progress, so shall your blessings increase. A lot shall reach their stardom while lots of celebrities and politicians shall be heard of no more.”
