2023: Etteh makes case for Tinubu, calls for unity, collaboration in S/W

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Patricia Etteh, CFR, has called for collaboration amongst South West parliamentarians to ensure the victory of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Etteh, who is Director, South-West parliamentarians directorate of the APC presidential campaign committee 2023, said the quest for the party’s total victory in 2023 cannot be prosecuted on the basis of individual approach but teamwork.

Etteh made the call during an inaugural meeting of the group which was held in Lagos recently. She said there was the need for strong collaboration and partnership to be able to deliver the mandate of the party, adding that the parliamentarians from the South-West remain committed to the collective objective.

According to her, “Without a doubt, the new administration taking office in 2023 will face a plethora of domestic and external challenges, such as dwindling revenues. These challenges which have threatened our national unity, though difficult, are not insurmountable.

“Let me, therefore, reiterate my resolve and the commitment of my team to a purpose-driven support base of parliamentarians and tireless rounds of campaigning that draws its inspiration from all Yorubas, particularly the good people of our geo-political zone, in ensuring a resounding success for our great party, and total victory for our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the forthcoming presidential election. The overall task of our team is to streamline efforts by working in partnership with other Directorates and Committees to guarantee total victory at the presidential election, as well as ensure that our approach is inclusive and effective.

“I wish to appeal to ‘gbogbo awa omo K’aro o jire,’ especially the parliamentarians, to see the 2023 election as an opportunity to set the nation on the path of sustainable progress and more essentially, secure the mandate of a tested and trusted son of the Yoruba people as the next President and C-in-C of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Etteh affirmed that Tinubu has demonstrated visionary leadership and the ability to rally everyone and everything around him to achieve set goals and objectives. She argued that Tinubu has all through the years demonstrated exemplary leadership by setting in motion the development of a Lagos for the future.

Etteh said that Tinubu is widely accepted locally and internationally, adding that, “Tinubu has continued to be an individual with a commitment to democratic rule and the rule of law. Our candidate has the capacity to heal divisions and restore the harmony we used to know in Nigeria. Indeed, Tinubu has achieved a lot and it is time for us to come together to collectively support and deliver his mandate to become the next president of Nigeria.

” It is imperative that as our efforts draw closer to the most critical period ahead of the 2023 elections, our people of voting age should obtain their Permanent Voters Cards and make sure they cast their ballots for the qualified, competent and trustworthy candidates of our great party at the local, state and national levels.

“My key message to all of us here today, therefore, is that we bring our individual election-winning tactics to bear to secure a landslide victory for the presidential candidate of our great party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the forthcoming 2023 presidential elections,” she said.
