Abducted Imo monarch found dead

THE traditional ruler of Atta Community in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze Edwin Azike, has been found dead.

The monarch was reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen on Thursday in the community, and his lifeless body found at Eke Okwudor area of the community.

Eze Azike was said to have been abducted at a school where he had gone to see his sister.

Shortly after the abduction, security men ransacked residences, while searching for the abductors of the monarch.

Five villagers were reportedly killed in the process, while some properties were also destroyed.

The monarch was said to have ruled for about 25 years. He was coronated in 1996 after some tussle.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Micheal Abattam, confirmed the death of the monarch, noting, however, that he was not aware of the killing of five villagers by local security men.

Recall that the traditional ruler of Mbutu Autonomous Community in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of the state, Eze Damian Nwaigwe, was abducted from his palace the same Thursday.
