Abducted monarch rescued in Nasarawa

Nasarawa State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of the Sangarin Dari, who was abducted on May 28, 2025.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the operation was carried out by the Command’s Search and Rescue Team following sustained pressure and intelligence-led efforts.

He added that the monarch was freed unhurt at around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, during a coordinated operation in the Panwasa Mountains, Mada Station.

The traditional ruler was immediately taken to a medical facility for evaluation and has since been reunited with his family.

“Efforts are currently underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects connected to the abduction,” Nansel stated.

Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, expressed gratitude to the public for their timely information and support, which were instrumental in the success of the operation.

He also commended the collaboration of other security agencies and local vigilante groups involved in the rescue mission, stating that this rescue points to the effectiveness of community collaboration in combating crime and restoring peace.
