The family of the abducted Senator Nelson Effiong has debunked the viral report that he has been killed in the kidnappers’ den.

The representative of Eket Senatorial district (Akwa Ibom South) in the National Assembly was abducted by gunmen on Sunday, September 5, 2021.

Effiong, who is from Oron Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, was whisked away at his sit-out along Oron Road, Uyo, the state capital.

The men of the underworld reportedly stormed the facility at about 9pm with a Toyota Camry car.

Uyoh, Effiong’s younger brother described the death rumour as fake, while also saying that the social media reports that his brother had regained his freedom was untrue.

“I heard the rumour that he has been killed. He is alive. He has not been killed.

“When somebody dies, there is no way you can hide it. Also, he has not been released. You can quote me that the report that he has been released is not authentic.

“Tomorrow (Sunday) will make it almost two months since he was taken hostage,” Uyoh said.
