AC Milan clinches first Serie A title since 2010

AC Milan have been crowned the 2021/2022 Serie A champions for the first time since the 2010-11 season after a 3-0 win at Sassuolo.

The final match of the season saw Olivier Giroud open the scoring with his 10th league goal of the season and added a second in the 32nd. Franck Kessié made it three to secure the title for the Rossoneri.

The red side of San Siro have now pulled even with Inter for the second-most titles in Italian history with 19 titles. Both trail Juventus’s official tally of 36.

Milan has been clinical since late January, going 15 unbeaten in the league ever since it lost to Spezia on Jan. 17 and conceding just six goals in that span.

The Stefano Pioli’s side saw Giroud emerge top scorer with 11 goals. Rafael Leão’s had 10 and Zlatan Ibrahimović’s scored eight.
