Adamawa ADC guber candidate backs Gov Fintiri

By EMMANUEL SAMUEL, YOLA

The African Democratic Party candidate in the 2019 Governorship election in Adamawa State, Senator Abdullaziz Nyako, has assured Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of his party’s loyalty and support to the new administration.

Senator Nyako stated this during a courtesy visit to Governor Fintiri at the Government House, Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

The ADC governorship candidate commended the Fintiri for the laudable steps taken to uplift the state from the quagmire of problems bedeviling it, adding that his visit to the government house was inspired by three key issues he wanted to present.

According to Nyako, “We are here to pay our homage as you can see and secondly to say the Nyako family lost one of their own with you and not only paying a condolence visit, but was part of the programme to the end, and thirdly, to encourage you, Fintiri.

“In ADC, we preach welfare and security and worried about five things- Boko Haram, Herders/Farmers’ clashes, drug abuse, kidnapping and fighting the shilla boys scourge”.

According to Nyako, who led hundreds of his supporters on the visit to the governor, the ADC observed and supported the marching orders on the shilla boys (a group of miscreants) to leave the state within two weeks.

He stressed how many criminals were apprehended, adding that they were around to support him (Governor).

Speaking further, Nyako narrated how his father, Admiral Murtala Nyako, did so much to keep the youths occupied and away from crime.

“You will recall when you were Speaker of the Assembly then, we engaged youths in skills acquisition with the then governor doing the implementation and the Assembly doing the oversight function, “he said.

Continuing, the senator observed that it would appreciate the return of such programmes while assuring him of the ADC’s support for the success of the government.

In his response, Governor Fintiri commended the ADC for the visit, stating that the time for politics was over and that all Adamawa indigenes  should come together, irrespective of ethnic and religious affiliation, as everybody would be part of his administration.

“Both myself and Aziz never used foul language on each other ” he pointed out, adding that he also believed in skills acquisition, hence his resolve to give free feeding in all secondary schools in the state.
