Adeboye, Amosun, Tejuoso, others to bag education awards

 Foremost cleric and General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A Adeboye; the Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and the Osile of Oke-Ona, Egbaland, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, are among prominent people from the South-West listed for awards in the first Southwest Nigeria Educational Awards and Lecture, billed to hold on May 9, this year.

According to the coordinator of Southwest Excellence Gold Awards, organisers of the event, Pastor Olawale Oni, a lecture will be delivered by the Vice chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Ede, and the Chairman Association of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, Prof. Debo Adeyewa.

The theme of the lecture and award programme scheduled to take place at the University of Ibadan, according to its organisers, is, “Essential Policy Directions for Nigerian Education in a Fast-Changing world,” to be delivered by Adeyewa.

Other dignitaries listed for awards on the occasion include Senator Gbolahan Dada, the deputy governor of Osun State, Mrs. Titi-Laoye Tomori, a member of the National Assembly, Senator Gbolahan Dada; and a prominent lawyer, Barrister Adeoluwa Taiwo.

Also, some southwest educational institutions such as Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife; The Federal Polytechnic, Ede; the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta; and the Redeemers University are also similarly billed for awards.

Explaining the rationale behind the awards, Olawale said, “We conceived it as a viable impetus for those who want to give their all for the growth of the education sector, while the Lecture is aimed to be a fertile platform for highlighting the challenges in the education sector and proffering solution to them.”

He said representatives of major primary and secondary schools and tertiary institutions were expected to grace the occasion.
