The government of Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osun State has accused the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi and the immediate past governor of the state and incumbent Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola of colluding and denying the state of its local government allocations for three months.

The state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, alleged that Oyetola, pained by his loss in the 2022 governorship election against Adeleke, had swore to wreck governance in the state.

Alimi claimed that Oyetola connived with Fagbemi to seize the allocations of the council areas since February, this year, saying the action has proven to the people of the state that Oyetola never meant well for the people of the state.

He made these allegations while speaking in Osogbo.

Reacting, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in the state, justified the allocations’s seizure and advised members of the public to ignore the line of last resort of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party has gripped.

APC Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi in a statement on Monday, wondered how “the same PDP-led government, which has denigrated the Court of Appeal judgment of 10th February, 2025 which reinstated the APC elected local government council chairmen and councilors is now calling for a rule of law which has never changed but strictly observed by the Federal Government in all its doings.”

He said, “It is not lost on the people how the same PDP had argued that the same AGF be summoned by the National Assembly to render his opinion on the judgment sometimes in February 2025.

“One is lost as to the moral and legal justification of the PDP resorting to blackmailing and mudslinging of the president and his cabinet members after they had made all efforts to denigrate and rubbish the legal path towed by the APC and which has earned them success at the Local Government levels.

“The PDP government is so desperate that it has subjected millions of people at the grassroots to avoidable hardship by ensuring that workers at this level don’t go to work since 16th February 2025 all in quest to frustrate the APC from reaping the fruits of her success from court.

“One fact the PDP-led government continuously fails to realize is that the law is not made for it alone. It is not a respecter of anybody. That the PDP could claim the AGF is biased just because he represented former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy at the election petition shows the extent of how low the party and its government is on competence and capability to lead any organized society.

“It is surprising to know that the same party has been making a fruitless effort to blackmail and conceal the fact that its current Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice too was one of the leading counsel in the same election petition.

“Its Commissioner for Justice did not only give opinions over the same judgment but also convened a world press conference where he denigrated the judgment at will and refused to approach the court over his contrived understanding of the judgment.

“It is sad that a government that has a sacred duty of upholding the rule of law and sanctity of democratic principles is one resorting to petty blackmail and press bullying to twist the law in its favour.

“To set the record straight, the PDP-led government, which is trying to play a victim card in a decoy to manipulate the facts, has instituted in court over seven lawsuits to seek by subterfuge reliefs to overrule the Court of Appeal judgment.

“The whole world was surprised to hear that the same party has also approached the Supreme Court over the same deceit designed to rubbish the judgment.

“The Federal Government deserves commendation over its stand with the rule of law as opposed to the rule of lobby which the PDP-led government has been doing.”
