After failed marriage, Chigurl ready to love again

Until recently, not many people knew that Chioma Omeruah, popularly known as Chigurl, was once married. A virgin at that point, she married at 33 and the union crashed within a year.

But in a chat with our correspondent, the 41-year-old actor and comedienne said she would rather keep more things on the failed marriage to herself than share for certain reasons. From her responses, she wants to move on and she is open to love again.

She said, “There is a sign on my head that says, ‘Chigurl is open to love,’ or do you want me to make a t-shirt with the inscription? Please if you have the love, bring it and I will collect it.

“At the end of the day, I just want someone to complement what I have. I don’t want someone that completes me because I am already complete. I want someone who makes me feel that I am at my best even when I know I am not,” she said.

Though she is not certain if she could quit her career for marriage, she said it is better to discuss it when she finds herself at that bridge.

She said, “I am not sure if I can. The man has his source of livelihood and I should have mine as well so that I would not depend on him for everything. I could be a full house wife if I choose to, but I would definitely work to keep myself busy. I have to be self-sufficient.”

The actor of ‘Banana Island Ghost’ has always had one big wish – she wants to have triplets, and she still does. Her belief is that once one gets over the two years situation, one would be fine. Three kids at a time mean doing everything at once and she looks forward to that.

For her also, meeting her future partner on social media is a welcome idea. She insisted that some people have relationships via social media and it lasted, while some met people through the conventional way and it did not last.

“At the end of the day, it is just about two people connecting. It also depends on their motives because if I meet someone via social media, it would take me a while to know if you are in love with Chioma or Chigurl. Do you love the character or the person? In our line of profession, you have to be sure of the motive of the person you are involved with,” she stated.

Playing a lead role in ‘Banana Island Ghost,’ a movie billed for premiere on August 4, Chigurl said the experience she had while filming was the most amazing she has ever had in entertainment. This is mainly because, according to her, everything was professionally done.

“It was well coordinated and we had a wonderful crew and cast. Everyone on set came with a good attitude and they were all ready to work. This is the first time I am acting in a feature film and anything that has to do with action. In this movie, I was kicking and throwing people. I did things that only happen in the gym in my regular life. It brought out a side of me that I knew existed and always wanted to explore.”

B.I.G tells the story of a ghost that is scared to go to heaven because he doesn’t have a soul mate. He convinces God to give him three days to fall in love. He is paired with the cantankerous firecracker Ijeoma, played by Chigurl, who will do anything to save her father’s house in Banana Island from being taken-over by a bank in three days.
