Aggrieved youths, on Tuesday, razed a building belonging to a pastor attached to the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Adebun area of Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State, over a missing seven-year-old girl.

The News Agency of Nigeria gathered that the lifeless body of the girl, identified simply as Demilade, was found in the pastor’s house.

It was reported that the victim, who was sent on an errand, was waylaid on the way and hacked to death by the daughter of the pastor who was said to be mentally deranged.

Demilade was said to have been declared missing around 8am on Monday while on an errand to buy pap.

Demilade’s parents were said to have raised the alarm when she could not be found.

This prompted some of their neighbours to organise a search party for Demilade, but it turned out to be unsuccessful.

The case was reported at Adehun Police Station in Ado-Ekiti by her parents and family friends as efforts to find her proved abortive.

Sources said that the victim’s lifeless body was later found at the pastor’s residence in the neighbourhood.

ASP Sunday Abutu, the Ekiti State Police Command Spokesman, who confirmed the incident to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, said a suspect had been arrested in connection with the crime.

Abutu said that the alleged culprit was in detention at the police headquarters in Ado Ekiti, adding that the arrest was effected based on the information given by the parents.

“The dead body of the girl had been recovered and deposited at the morgue.

“The CP had directed that the matter be investigated thoroughly.

“We are studying and extracting information from the suspect in our custody and we shall inform the members of the public about our findings when we are through,” the PPRO said.
