All-Share Index snaps three-day winning streak, falls 0.29%

Nigerian equities snapped a three-day winning streak today as the NGX All-Share Index lost 0.29 percent, the most in a single day since 7 April, to close at 52,944.65 points. On market movers, profit-taking in WAPCO (-8.28%), MTNN (-0.61%), and INTBREW (-9.09%) dragged the index lower. As a result, the ASI’s year-to-date (YTD) return fell to 23.94 percent, while the market capitalization lost N84.17bn to close at N28.54trn.

Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions declining by 38.85 percent. A total of 374.18m shares valued at N4.96bn were exchanged in 6,854 deals. TRANSCORP (+8.53%) led the volume chart with 88.59m units traded, while SEPLAT (+0.01%) led the value chart with deals worth N1.41bn.

Market breadth closed positive at a 1.27-to-1 ratio, with advancing issues outnumbering declining ones. NNFM (+9.55%) topped twenty-seven (27) others on the leader’s log, while CHAMPION (-9.84%) led twenty-one (21) others on the laggard’s table.
