Ambode: Giving Lagos infrastructure facelift

It has been accolades galore for Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, who is in his 18th month in office, over several roads which his administration has successfully constructed and rehabilitated across the state.
According to The Point’s findings, several indigenes of the state have been commending the governor, who they believe has more to offer the state in the years ahead.
And the development has enhanced the influx of investors and visitors to the state.
Governor Ambode, in recent times, embarked on aggressive upgrade of infrastructure, especially in the area of road construction and rehabilitation.
Lagosians expressed the belief that the infrastructure provided, the 114 roads constructed across the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas of the state, have further improved the status of Lagos, both locally and internationally.
The Point learnt from the state Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Folarin Coker that the 114 roads, the provision of security apparatus, the ‘Light Up Lagos’ project, among others, have further improved the confidence of tourists and investors in the state.
A resident of Shomolu, Mrs. Funmi Akinsanya, while commending Ambode, said, “The roads rehabilitated in my area have gone a long way in helping residents to go about their trades and businesses with better confidence.”
She added that the projects have made residents to have more confidence in the governor. Meanwhile, The Point also noted the new face of Panada/Lafenwa Road, off Mushin road in Isolo LCDA, now enhances free flow of traffic unlike in the past.
The Sole Administrator of the LCDA, Abimbola Osikoya, thanked the governor for the promise kept in the construction of the road, noting that the road had been unmotorable and would no doubt improve the economical pursuits of the residents of the area, especially because of its proximity to the popular Aswani Market.
The Point also noticed another impact of Governor Ambode at Olorunfunmi Street in Oworonsoki and Okeowo Somorin Street in Ifako-Gbagada, both in Kosofe Local Government Area, which has been commended by residents of the area.
The development, according to them, is a long awaited dream ,which has now come true.
Other roads, which are now wearing new looks in the Centre of Excellence, courtesy of the Ambode-led administration, include the link road to Iyana Oworo Bus Stop, Oworosonki; Onilekere and Olu Akerele streets in Ikeja Local Government; North Avenue and Caulcrick roads, Apapa Local Government and Jinadu and Folawiyo Bankole streets in Itire-Ikate LCDA.
