AMCON takes over another airline

Barely five days after it took over Arik Air, the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria has taken over another Nigerian airline company, Odengene Air-Shuttle Services Limited, otherwise known as OAS Helicopters.
A source in the company, who said AMCON officials have pasted their seal of takeover at the entrance of the company, disclosed that the takeover followed a court order.
According to the source, the AMCON seal reads, “POSSESSION TAKEN TODAY 14/2/17 BY AMCON BY COURT ORDER ON SUIT NO. FHC/4CS/1139/2016.”
Though, it is not certain why the company was taken over but another source close to the rotary wing said it may be as a result of debt.
OAS is an indigenous aviation company registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission on February 4, 1992 and licensed by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority to render flight services.

The company covers two areas of flight activities – rotary and fixed wing, with the rotary wing operated under OAS Helicopters while the fixed wing is operated as Odengene Air. The helicopter wing of the company, OAS Helicopters, commenced commercial flight in February 2006.

However, as at the time of filing this report, AMCON spokesman, Mr. Jude Nwauzor, had yet to confirm the take-over, claiming he was not aware.
