BY ANDREW EKEJIUBA

The Executive Director of Imo Angels Football Club, Jenny Anusiem, has expressed readiness to assist the girl child to achieve her dreams through sports.

Speaking to The Point in a telephone chat in commemoration of this year’s ‘ International Day of the Girl Child’ she admitted that she remains proud of the girls because they are the ones who are made up of courage, determination, sacrifice, commitment, talent and love.

“On this International day of girl child, I’m proud of the girls. They are the ones who are made up of courage, determination, sacrifice, commitment, talent and love.

“We at Imo Angels FC have taken it upon ourselves to create platforms for a girl child, to offer them great opportunities to stay off the streets, prostitution and drug abuse.

“Our aim in the next few years is to build stars like Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie and Nnadozie Chiamaka to mention but a few.

“We are committed into helping the girl child achieve their dreams in sport and help them become useful citizens to the society at large,” she said.

Meanwhile, Anusiem has expressed optimism that the new President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alh Ibrahim Gusau, will support the development of female football in the country.

In a congratulatory message to the new NFF boss, Anusiem said, “Football in Nigeria, especially female football is fast evolving and we’re optimistic that this new leadership will steer the ship towards global best practice in female football.

“On our part, we’re committed to supporting the NFF to make history together. Congratulations,” she concluded.
